Double Shovel Cider Co.

Alaska's First Micro-Cidery

CIDERS HAND-CRAFTED with INGREDIENTS EMBLEMATIC OF ALASKA & the pnw

As Alaska’s first micro-cidery, we use the perfect selection of apples from Alaska & the Pacific Northwest to handcraft refreshing ciders as prized as the double shovel caribou. Carefully crafted in Anchorage and Kodiak, Alaska, our ciders are deliciously dry and naturally gluten-free. Find them in cans and draft all over the last frontier state!

TAP ROOMs

Our beautiful and spacious tap rooms in two Alaska locations have a great vibe with hand-made tables perfect for groups or sharing with others. In addition to Alaska-made hard ciders, we have food trucks out front daily and locally-made snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available inside.

Our year-round outdoor patios are the perfect place to enjoy a nice cider with friends in the great outdoors. Friendly dogs and kids are welcome (with a parent or legal guardian). We even have baby-changing station to keep your little ones so fresh and so clean.

DSCC’s three founders are lifelong Alaskans, and THEY LOVE cider…

We’d tasted delicious ciders abroad, fermented with wild or added yeasts using cider and culinary apples, so we knew good cider was out there, but Alaska’s supply and perception of it were tainted by “franken-ciders” produced for the masses to inattentively drink solely as a beer-substitute.

In 2013, we sought to change most Alaskan’s misunderstanding of cider and began crafting our own; refining our recipes for drier, more-balanced ciders that also included tannin and acid. We tried numerous cultivated and wild yeast strains, along with a number of apple and hop varietals before perfecting our flagship ciders.

In August 2015, we moved into our small warehouse space in Anchorage, laboring nights and weekends for a full year before the first ciders started flowing and we opened our doors. Since then, we’ve grown our footprint from our original 2 warehouse units to 7 units, purchased a canning line, expanded our wholesale capacity to serve the entire State of Alaska, more than doubled the size of our Anchorage Tap Room, opened a second tap room and cidery in Kodiak in 2022, and started cultivating our own Alaska apples and pears by partnering with different orchards in Southcentral and Interior Alaska.

Cheers to the future of locally-made ciders in Alaska!
